Artist Statement

(EN) I bring together multiple found objects into little dioramas. These small sculptural installations attempt to translate a form of cinematic storytelling into a threedimensional space. I create a small-scale world that exists in its own time and place but relates back to a personal experience of its audience using everyday household objects, relying heavily on the relatability of them. Within this smaller scale, I often refer to bigger ideas and themes. I also integrate movement, light and sound as a tool to capture and hold the attention of my audience. I do this because I want to combine two elements of different visual mediums: the spatial element of architecture (or sculpture) and the storytelling element of film.

(NL) Ik maak kleine diorama's opgebouwd uit "found objects". Met deze kleine sculpturale installaties poog ik cinematische verhalen te vertalen naar een driedimensionale ruimte. Ik creëer een wereld op formaat die enkel bestaat in zijn eigen tijd en ruimte. Ik breng dit terug naar de dagelijkse ervaringen van mijn toeschouwers door bijvoorbeeld herkenbare alledaagse huishoudobjecten als materiaal te gebruiken. Binnen dit kleine formaat presenteer ik vaak grote thema's en ideeën. Ik integreer ook vaak beweging, licht en geluid. Ik doe dit omdat ik twee verschillende visuele mediums wil combineren: het ruimtelijke element van architectuur/sculptuur en het verhalende element van film.
